The Company

Fera Science Ltd a national and international centre of excellence for interdisciplinary investigation and problem solving across plant and bee health, crop protection, sustainable agriculture, food and feed quality and chemical safety in the environment. Fera create and deliver integrated, innovative and expert research services and products for their partners in crop protection, chemical and animal health companies, as well as food producers and growers, manufacturers, distributors, retailers and government. They now require a Growth Director to drive growth and deliver strategic expansion of Fera’s expert services across the food and plant health divisions.

The Role

Reporting to the CEO and part of the exec leadership team, the Growth Director will lead the setting and execution of Fera’s sales growth strategy with a principal focus on the Plant and Food programmes driving revenues nationally and internationally. The role will manage and develop a dedicated sales and marketing team to optimise current and prospective key accounts whilst personally leading a select number of high value strategic accounts and partnerships for Fera. Importantly, this position will work across the business including the Science Leadership Team refining and developing new customer value propositions to take to market and translating high value commercial opportunities into effective research services and projects for Fera to deliver.

The Candidate

The successful candidate will be an experienced commercial and business development leader with a track record of achievements within the food and plant health industries either from the research services sector or commercial businesses of scale and complexity. Applicants do not need a qualification in a relevant scientific field but they do need to have an understanding of the technology and basics to understand the breadth of Fera’s expertise and relevant offer to customers. The suitable candidate will demonstrate knowledge of successfully implementing commercial performance structures to enable their teams to deliver a consistent profitable business. Above all, candidates will enjoy playing an active part in the exec team, representing the business, living the values and playing an important part in shaping the future of this internationally renowned centre of excellence.
