Fera Science Ltd a national and international centre of excellence for interdisciplinary investigation and problem solving across plant and bee health, crop protection, sustainable agriculture, food and feed quality and chemical safety in the environment. Fera create and deliver integrated, innovative and expert research services and products for their partners in crop protection, chemical and animal health companies, as well as food producers and growers, manufacturers, distributors, retailers and government. Due to succession planning, they now require an experienced Head of Ecotoxicology to lead their team across the terrestrial, pollinators and aquatic services, a leading part of the regulatory services division.
Reporting to the Portfolio Director – Regulatory Services, this is an exciting opportunity to join and shape a division enjoying strong growth. The Head of Ecotoxicology will be the scientific and business leader of the Ecotoxicology department, managing all teams across the terrestrial, pollinators and aquatic services and taking accountability for business planning and achieving agreed targets. The role will also be a vital scientific ambassador (internally and externally) to represent the function and wider Fera business as the partner of choice in its specific scientific expertise. Importantly, this position will work across the Regulatory Services team refining and developing business development, marketing and client services by offering technical support, to ensure pipeline and committed work base remains buoyant and the business continues to grow in the UK and overseas.
The successful candidate will be an experienced scientist with at least 10 years’ experience of running an operation in a scientific services area and or / regulatory environment with significant time served working to GLP, preferably at TFM level. Suitable candidates will have strong technical knowledge within the range of Ecotoxicology services as well as having a track record in developing deep and long-lasting client relationships. Above all, the candidate will be a driven, confident and focused leader.
