Established in 2004, Restrain manufactures and leases generators which distribute a continuous low concentration of ethylene gas for use in potato and onion stores to control sprouting and in tomato and bell pepper glass houses, to enhance ripening. The business’ USP is that ethylene is a natural gas which leaves no chemical residue on the crops it is used on. Restrain has developed unique technology for the sensors used in the generators, which ensures a consistent, stable level of ethylene for storing or ripening of crops. Restrain has a secondary product called ‘Accumulator’, which is used to increase the yield of seed potatoes, again using controlled ethylene generators. All revenue comes from application fees, leasing generators and the sale of generator fuel (ethanol.)
Restrain are looking for an experienced Sales Manager to establish the business in North America. This role will have responsibility for developing relationships with growers and producers across the region with a remit to help evolve the local strategy. The key focus will be to drive sales through awareness, networking and completing of trials with potential customers. Additionally, the role will be responsible for advising customers on their crop storage solutions as well as managing relationships with processors. The role will be grower-facing and will also interface with grower groups and cooperatives. The successful candidate will work closely with the senior management team, based in Europe, on the execution and development of the strategy with a remit to contribute to and help shape ideas.
The successful applicant for this role will have a proven track record in sales and an ability to negotiate contracts. Some exposure to the agriculture sector and an understanding of crop storage solutions would be beneficial but is not essential. A focused business development mindset, an understanding of the bigger picture and the energy to develop a new market are essential requirements for this role.
