Restrain are an internationally recognised Agritech business, who have been supplying farmers and growers in the fresh produce industry with an alternative to chemical applications in storage for over 20 years. Thanks to years of growth, they are looking to appoint a Sales Manager to develop and deliver their strategy in Belgium.
Our Client:
Restrain were established in 2003. Having successfully established a new and less harmful method for suppressing sprouting in potatoes whilst in storage, the business set out to make this available to growers, initially in the UK, but subsequently internationally as well. The technology utilises ethylene gas which, as a naturally occurring gas, leaves no chemical residue on the crops it is used on. In light of the EU ban on CIPC (chemical sprout inhibitors) Restrain have been perfectly placed to capitalise, offering a safe and cost-effective solution to the potentially harmful alternative. The technology has been proven to extend the life of potatoes and onions in storage and is between 4 and 6 times cheaper than other inhibitors. In addition to this, the technology has some advantageous secondary usages in salad crop ripening and increasing yields in seed potatoes, which are currently being explored.
The Role:
Restrain is looking for an experienced Sales Manager to join the team based in Belgium. This role will have responsibility for developing relationships with potato growers and producers across the country with a remit to help evolve the local strategy. The key focus will be to drive sales through awareness and networking whilst completing trials with potential customers. Additionally, the role will be responsible for advising customers on their crop storage solutions as well as managing relationships with processors. The role will be grower and processor facing and you will also work closely with other teams across Europe and evolving the routes to market.
The Candidate:
The successful applicant for this role will have a proven track record in a sales / business development environment working with farmers and growers in Belgium. The ability to engage with growers / farmers is crucial, but any experience working with Fresh Produce growers and packers would be an advantage . You will need to be based in Belgium and be able to travel as needed, along with the ability to speak Flemish/Dutch, French and English. You don’t need to be a technical specialist to make this role a success. The business is committed to providing you with the guidance and support needed to get yourself established. What you will need, however, is the drive and determination to be successful and to introduce the business to as many growers as possible. There is ample opportunity for this role to scale up, as your sales develop as well.
