We are proud to be partnering with a Kenyan based Fresh Produce grower who have experienced significant growth over their 40+ year history.
Our Client:
They are a highly regarded Kenyan based Fresh Produce grower, who, on numerous occasions, have adapted their business to meet the challenges of a changing world. They have established themselves as a significant part of the supply chain and over the course of the last 40 years have developed strong commercial links domestically, in the UK and in Europe. They are quick to react to changing demands and adapt their growing strategies accordingly. For the last 20 years, they have been leaders in the supply of Prepared Vegetables, which has enabled them to become key partners with some of the UK’s most prestigious retailers.
The Opportunity:
The business is looking to appoint a new Operations Director, to be based at their production sites in Kenya. This role will provide leadership to their farming operations, whilst working closely with the commercial and technical teams to ensure high quality standards are met. This position is an important link to maintaining strong communication between Kenya and the UK, ensuring the teams are clear on the current cropping forecasts as well as establishing future requirements. The key focus for this position, is to ensure the company continues to develop it’s leading production base and maintains the high service levels it has become known for. This role sits on the management team and will provide key directional management for the business as well as disseminating the corporate strategy to the wider team.
The Candidate:
The successful applicant for this role, will be an experienced operator with an understanding of Africa and its people. They will have a proven track record of bringing significant teams together and ensuring they are working towards a common goal. They will need to have experience in Fresh Produce, but this doesn’t have to be from a growing perspective. Experience of operations, supply chain and customers is more important. The role is based in Kenya, so you will need to be able to relocate their full time. This will likely be based near Naivasha, but could also be based near Nairobi. The business is currently looking at future succession planning. Therefore, there is ample opportunity for this role to develop in time to meet the needs of the business in the future.
