The Roles
As part of Fera’s five-year growth plan, there is a need to further expand the Principal Scientist team across a range of disciplines. We are looking to recruit scientists with expertise in one of the following areas: food, soil, regulation, land management, environment, or socioeconomics.
As a Principal Scientist, you will play the leading role in the science development and delivery of work in your scientific areas of expertise and make a significant contribution to the overall scientific direction of Fera. You will be accountable for the successful (scientifically and financially) and efficient delivery of a portfolio of testing services and/or projects, directing and mentoring colleagues as appropriate. Your breadth of knowledge will be such that you can lead and influence across the whole business in multiple science workstreams.
As a Principal Scientist, you will inspire, stimulate and develop the cohort of next generation science leaders from across the business and be part of delivering Fera’s five-year growth strategy.
The Candidate
We are looking for a proactive and strategic scientist who can successfully manage multiple projects while driving the growth of their scientific discipline and business area. You will be responsible for developing and executing strategic plans, regularly reviewing progress, and ensuring objectives are met. A strong understanding of laboratory techniques and scientific experimentation relevant to your field is essential, along with the ability to mentor, develop, and inspire teams.
The ideal candidate will typically have a BSc/MSc with seven years’ experience or a PhD and five years of experience with a strong publications record. They will be thought leaders in their areas of specialism but will also be able to support with the generation of income for Fera and will be experienced holding a financial target and acting commercially.
