Due to a retirement, Eden Search & Select was approached by the Group HR Director to lead the confidential search for a new Managing Director of the UK fresh business. The brief was clear – to find a highly capable, commercially focused leader in the fresh food sector with experience of developing a robust UK market strategy that delivers for the Greenyard Group and its customers.

Our approach

Eden Search embarked on an extensive talent identification and engagement process targeting established Managing Directors and Group Commercial Directorswithin the International food industry. Our project team, consisting of our Head of Research and Managing Director, worked together to deliver the four key stages: identification, screening, assessment and validation. This approach delivered a shortlist of five highly experienced candidates across the food industry. All of which were interviewed with two outstanding candidates being selected for 2nd and 3rd stage meetings with the Group Board and one successful candidate appointed for the role.

The results

Within the agreed timescales, Greenyard appointed a Managing Director with a high level of commercial awareness and a clear vision on how to leverage the strengths of the Greenyard offer to create an innovative and robust strategy that will position the business as a long term partner of choice for the UK market.
