Crop Health and Protection (CHAP) Ltd is one of four UK Agri-Tech Centres launched under BEIS supported by Innovate UK in Q4 2015. CHAP is a unique, independent nexus between UK government, researchers and industry, building innovation networks to identify and accelerate the development of cutting-edge solutions to drive transformative change in sustainable crop productivity. Having established its core asset base and embarked on its strategic growth phase in 2019, CHAP is embracing the challenge of taking its expertise and capabilities to the market to deliver impact both for the delivery of the commercial goals and for the wider societal and good.

 The Role

CHAP seeks to appoint a new Non-Executive Chair to guide the organisation through this exciting next phase of growth and opportunity. The role will guide the business and strike a balance between driving the commercialisation of the CHAP capabilities for industry as well as influencing beyond the Board room to provide the CHAP Executive the support as well as the funds to succeed in accelerating its growth.

The Candidate

The role requires a strong Chair or NED with experience in the Agri Tech or Agri Food sectors with an ability to influence, challenge and guide a quite diverse group of stakeholders. The future Chair’s passion for the impact of technology, desire to stimulate UK agricultural productivity and their established network within the industry will help enable CHAP to deliver on its mission. Above all, the Non-Executive Chair will provide robust governance to the Board as well as challenge and shape the non-executive team to optimise its effectiveness in supporting CHAP’s strategic objectives.
