Future Biogas is one of the UK’s leading developers and operators of biogas plants, fed with energy crops and agricultural waste products with a strong reputation for professionalism in the biogas industry and proven experience of both CHP and gas injection facilities. The Board believes that the next five years will see considerable consolidation in the biogas industry and Future Biogas wants to position itself as the partner of choice for institutional funders seeking a high quality operator.
The new Operations Director position was aimed at achieving successful expansion into these new areas and improve the profitability of existing operations and continuing to develop its best in class reputation in the biogas industry. Given the relatively rapid emergence of the AD sector in the UK, the Managing Director wanted to search outside of the sector to engage with senior talent that could bring new ideas and process to a rapidly expanding business.
Eden Search & Select embarked on an extensive talent identification and engagement process across the UK within the food and drink, energy and industrial manufacturing industries, targeting Board level operation and engineering professionals with experience of leading teams through high growth, multi-site activities.
Given Eden Search & Select had been working with Future Biogas since its inception, the team utilised its deep sector experience and unique cultural insight of the Managing Director and other members of the leadership team to ensure the right fit of professional and personal qualities as well as the character to lead the operations teams through a period of change and growth.
After continual dialog and discussion about the strengths and weaknesses of the pool of talent suitable for the role, Eden Search & Select presented four candidates from the food, Gas and Nuclear industries in an extensive 53 page shortlist outlining a detailed analysis of the selected candidates as well as highlighting future talent for new appointments. After an extensive interview process, the candidate was successfully appointed.
The quality of the appointment and subsequent start of the Operations Director has given the business excellent functional leadership and allowed the Managing Director and his board to focus on developing their growth strategy within a challenging and dynamic market place.
