Scientific Agronomy Manager USA

Opportunity

Azotic Technologies  based in the East Midlands was established to develop and commercialise a natural nitrogen technology that provides a sustainable solution to the problem of worldwide fertiliser overuse. They are a leading Biotech Agribusiness Group researching fertiliser solutions for a wide range of crops across the world. To support their growth strategy they had been seeking a Scientific Agronomy Manager based in the USA to work with the existing team to develop the research further across new areas of the US and develop new research sites in more states.

As Azotic Technologies long term talent selection partner Eden Search & Select was engaged on a retained and exclusive basis to find the right individual with a highly academic background coupled with practical crop production knowledge for a research and scientific environment.  Ideally Azotic needed a PHD level candidate who could engage with a wide range of stakeholders as well as the commercial awareness to help bring their exciting new technology to market. This challenge meant the ESS research team had to ‘go global’ to find the right candidate using our extensive knowledge of worldwide agribusiness and educational establishments.

Working with Eden Search and Select is always a positive experience; an excellent mix of professionalism and genuine enthusiasm and commitment to what they do and in delivering the best for our Company.  They work hard to ensure an appropriate match not only of skills and expertise but also personality and attitudes to achieve a good cultural fit. Their iterative and patient approach to identifying the profile for the role and their tenacity in pursuing suitable candidates is exemplary and commendable. We have been delighted and impressed with all of the employees that have come to us through Eden Search and Select. Dr David Dent Chief Technical Officer, Azotic Technologies Ltd.

Our approach

Eden Search & Select researchers guided by our Head of Agribusiness, identified over 90 appropriate companies and institutions in the U.S.  that could harbor the right individual to join the team and meet  the rigorous academic qualifications and environmental beliefs and values required by our client. Utilising our network and methodical approach we talked with a carefully targeted group of candidates with a particular focus on culture fit as understanding our client’s environmental vision was a key success factor needed by any prospective candidates as well as the right experience and academic requirements.  It was also critical to the process  that our deep understanding of the sector and the Azotic Technologies business  we could represent a UK company employing internationally  with credibility and conviction especially in the offer management phase.

The results

Within a short period ESS delivered a strong shortlist that included candidates from the UK and USA, who all had excellent formal qualifications, relevant experience but most importantly could share Azotic Technologies vision of a cleaner approach to crop production across the world. In making the appointment it was clear that that all of our candidates were of the right profile to give Azotic Technologies the freedom to make the exact match without compromising on their ‘ideal’ candidate requirements.
