Issue 3: Rethinking the Global Food Supply chain in a world on a diet

The rise in GLP-1 adoption is part of a decisive shift toward more deliberate, nutrition-led eating, driven by policy pressure on ultra-processed foods and consumers buying less but choosing better. For CEOs, this signals tougher conditions for volume-driven categories, with traditional assumptions on capacity, plant economics, and capital deployment becoming less relevant as demand shifts to fewer calories but higher nutritional value. At the same time, fresh, minimally processed, and nutrient-dense categories are gaining momentum, with new value pools emerging across premium proteins, functional ingredients, sustainable aquaculture, and health-focused convenience.

Against this backdrop, Eden surveyed 80+ senior executives across the global food supply chain—representing £23.3bn in turnover and 55,000 employees—on the future of the industry and how to stay competitive.

The results challenge assumptions, expose gaps, and reveal what CEOs truly need
