The Company:-

Pilgrim Foodservice have been serving their customers for more than 40 years. Established in 1979, the business has grown strongly from its base in Boston, Lincolnshire and currently covers an area which goes as far north as Hull right down to London. With an onsite butcher and fresh produce prep facility, the business continues to invest heavily in strengthening their infrastructure which will deliver further improvements to their ability to service their current customers, as well as broadening their overall reach across their operational area. They pride themselves on their customer service and everything they do is geared around delivering the best experience and quality to 2,500 and growing customer base. They have set themselves some ambitious growth targets for the next 3-5 years and are looking to further challenge the accepted beliefs in the sector.

The Role:-

This is a new role for the business, with the function having largely been covered by the Managing Director previously. The role will be responsible for Marketing, Sales and Procurement with each area having a “Head of” to manage the individual teams. Each area has its own distinct success criteria, but in order deliver the highest benefit to the business, they need to work very closely together. This role provides the leadership and support that helps them to continually push the boundaries of what is achievable whilst helping the development of the individual as well. With significant growth plans, this position is vital to the delivery of them, ensuring the plans are communicated effectively and that all stakeholders understand their part in their implementation.

The Candidate:-

To be suitable for this role, culture fit is one of the most important factors for the business. The successful candidate will need to have proven senior commercial experience within a fast-moving multi-discipline environment, but equally as important is how you work and interact with those around you. The ability to inspire a team and to challenge previously accepted ways of working will be a big part of the position. Prior experience of managing an experienced team is very important. Whilst this role will largely be based from their office in Boston, Lincolnshire, some of the broader team have remote roles, so travel around the UK will be required . Experience within a food environment would be a benefit but, it isn’t crucial. It is far more important to be adaptable and willing to learn.
