NFU
Director of Regions & Commercial
The Organisation
The NFU is the most influential representative body for agriculture and horticulture in England and Wales. Representing more than 44,000 farming and growing businesses, the NFU campaigns for a sustainable and profitable future for British agriculture, champions the industry in the media, and provides expert advice, services, and support to its members. With national reach, a strong regional presence, and commercial subsidiaries delivering specialist services, the NFU is uniquely placed to shape the future of British farming.
The NFU is now seeking a Director of Regions and Commercial to drive a strategy that strengthens both income generation and member service delivery.
The Role
This newly created leadership role will deliver the NFU’s membership and commercial strategy, ensuring income generation, frontline services, and member representation are fully aligned to deliver maximum value. Reporting directly to the Director General, the Director will lead regional operations to strengthen consistency, share best practice, and enhance service delivery across the country.
The role will also chair the NFU’s commercial subsidiaries and oversee key member services while driving sustainable growth. As part of the Executive Leadership Team, the Director will foster greater collaboration between regions and functions, ensuring the NFU remains responsive, joined-up, and focused on delivering impact for farmers and growers.
The Candidate
Candidates will bring proven senior leadership experience with a commercial mindset, ideally with knowledge of farming, food, or the wider agri-food supply chain. Strategic and financially astute, the successful candidate will balance member-focused service delivery with commercial sustainability. An exceptional communicator, the ideal candidate will be confident managing complex stakeholder relationships and representing an organisation at the highest levels.
We are looking for an inspiring values-led leader with a passion for British agriculture, who can energise and develop high-performing teams, combining clear communication with sound judgement to shape culture, drive growth, and deliver meaningful results for our members. This role offers the chance to make a real difference for the NFU and wider farming community — aligning services, championing members, and driving lasting impact for farmers and growers nationwide.
Location
This role is based at NFU’s Stoneleigh office; however, the ability to travel frequently within the UK, including occasional short-notice trips and overnight stays is essential. Flexibility and a willingness to be mobile are critical to successfully delivering in this senior leadership role.
We are committed to supporting flexible working where possible, and we trust our senior leaders to manage their time and responsibilities while meeting the needs of the business.
