From sustainability and nutrition to agricultural policy and consumer behaviour, here are the standout moments from the key events we’ve supported and attended.

Sustainable Food Conference:

The Sustainable Food Conference brought together major industry voices to explore how the sector can respond to rapid change. Themes of pace and practicality dominated the discussion, with AI, emerging technologies and GLP‑1s reshaping the landscape faster than ever.

Key reflections included:

  • Driving innovation at speed
  • Prioritising everyday foods to improve nutrition at scale
  • Designing products customers genuinely want
  • Investing in people and skills
  • Aligning sustainability with commercial reality
  • Re‑establishing food education as a societal priority

The momentum in the room showed the impact that shared ambition and collaboration can have on the challenges ahead.

Oxford Farming Conference:

A standout first trip for Dani, the Oxford Farming Conference programme delivered a thoughtful balance of individual, corporate and government perspectives, with speakers offering grounded, real‑life insight into the pressures and opportunities facing UK agriculture.

The iconic Oxford Union Debate was a particular standout, reinforcing why OFC remains one of the most important fixtures in the farming calendar. It’s already firmly in the diary for 2027.

City Food & Drink Lecture:

Eden Search was proud to once again sponsor the City Food & Drink Lecture at London’s Guildhall, marking its 25th anniversary. Professor Susan Jebb posed a powerful question: Can Britain’s food and drink industry make the next 25 years healthier than the last?

Her lecture explored:

  • Rising obesity rates and the commercial incentives behind nutrient‑poor foods
  • Lessons from the dramatic decline in smoking
  • Growing awareness of ultra‑processed foods
  • The potential impact of appetite suppressants
  • The opportunity for primary producers to lead with nutrient‑dense, minimally processed foods

It was an inspiring reminder of the role the industry can play in shaping a healthier future.

Fruit Logistica:

At  Fruit Logistica in Berlin, one theme stood out above all others: convenience in fresh produce is no longer a trend — it’s embedded in how people eat.

From snacking blueberries in an airport queue to the rise of bite‑size cucumbers and on‑the‑go packaging formats, the event showcased how consumer behaviour is reshaping decisions across the supply chain. Breeding programmes, packaging design and product ranges are increasingly built around real usage occasions, not just traditional categories.

Innovation awards highlighted this shift, with products like Snap & Go packaging and snack‑ready formats reflecting a market that rewards practicality, portability and reduced waste.

Eden Search is proud to be part of these conversations — supporting leaders, connecting talent and helping shape the future of the food and farming industries. If you attended any of these events, we’d love to hear your reflections too.
