Group ESG Director Europe

Opportunity

With group revenues in excess of €2bn, AMFRESH is one of the leading fresh food companies in the world. With an end-to-end operation in citrus, table grapes, tropical fruits, superfoods and plant-based fresh goods, AMFRESH deliver comprehensive solutions for strategic customers and global consumers.

Since 2021, AMFRESH have made public commitments to finding sustainable ways to produce food more efficiently;  reducing inputs, cutting back on waste and conserving water with the clear aim of delivering a positive impact for growers, workers, communities, consumers, partners and the world.

To strengthen this commitment, AMFRESH partnered with Eden to appoint a Group ESG Director at a strategic level to lead and champion their pledge to environmental and social stewardship, by specifically leading the development, implementation and operation of the AMFRESH Group ESG Strategy.

We are delighted with the candidate that will join us in this new and exciting role for AMFRESH and we look forward to working with Eden again on future projects.

David and his team were great to work with throughout the entire process. They kept us informed at every stage as to how things were progressing and made sure they checked in regularly to ensure alignment with our needs. The candidates presented all offered something different to AMFRESH and all met the brief very well.

Our approach

Eden led detailed discussions with members of the group leadership teams, to help AMFRESH recognise they required an extensive search that would engage senior sustainability
professionals outside of the immediate produce industry.

They needed to have experience operating across a global network of stakeholders and would subsequently bring new ideas and energy to the ESG strategy.

After refining the brief further, it was clear successful candidates needed to demonstrate not only leadership expertise but also a track record of aligning an ESG strategy with investors, farmers and retail customers in different countries who in many cases had different corporate ESG objectives.

The results

Eden’s comprehensive international search
produced a shortlist of four highly qualified
candidates, each with different but relevant
experience designing, implementing and
leading an ESG strategy across vertically
integrated food supply chains.

Following a series of three separate interviews
and assessments, two standout candidates
were interviewed by the Group CEO, and one
was appointed. The successful candidate has
a unique blend of board level engagement,
global ESG leadership experience and sector
expertise across the fresh food industry.
