Eden partnered with the British Beet Research Organisation (BBRO) to recruit a new Managing Director. BBRO is at the heart of the UK’s sugar beet industry, driving innovation and delivering real-world solutions to advance crop production and profitability. Jointly funded by British Sugar and UK sugar beet growers (represented by NFU Sugar), BBRO champions the future of sugar beet by turning cutting-edge research into practical, impactful strategies. BBRO needed a leader who could deliver their new strategy driving innovation and delivering real world impact.
This role is focused on transforming cutting-edge science into actionable solutions that enhance profitability and performance for growers, processors, and the wider supply chain.
This is a unique role and Eden stood out with their approach, time spent really understanding the brief and engagement with potential candidates. It took two deep dives into the market to find the right candidate and the Directors have been delighted with the outcome.
Our approach
Through in-depth discussions with the BBRO Board, it was evident that the ideal candidate needed to drive change and be able to turn strategy into impactful action. Great stakeholder engagement skills were essential to manage and engage with a diverse range of stakeholders from farms to boardrooms.
Our search focused on individuals in leadership roles across the agri-food supply chain who could demonstrate implementing a strategy, inspiring a team and delivering tangible benefits to users or growers, delivering real impact.
The results
Eden’s targeted search process identified five highly qualified candidates with significant leadership expertise operating across the food supply chain. Following a rigorous selection process involving interviews and assessments with the BBRO Board, BBRO appointed a candidate with both the sector knowledge and leadership skills to drive the organisation forward. The selected candidate will play a pivotal role in supporting BBRO’s next phase of development.
