Datamars is an innovative global livestock technology company that has achieved rapid growth over the past few years. They have a broad customer base ranging from farmers through to merchants. Acquisitions have been a large part of their strategy, and this has driven the need for change.
Eden worked with the General Manager for Europe to discuss the needs of the business and it was identified that there was a leadership gap in the UK. A new UK General Manager was required to focus on a local strategy, which included changes to the customer mix and the launch of new products.
It was important that the successful candidate understood the UK market, was able to hit the ground running and had the ability to build an immediate rapport. Important, also, was the ability to inspire and motivate a team with the added requirement of being able to challenge and find new solutions.
We approached the search in a clear, and methodical, way by identifying the leading commercial leaders in the UK livestock sector. We looked broadly from manufacturers through to merchants and retailers to design a bespoke shortlist. During the assessment stage we better understood candidates’ capabilities to operate in an international structure as well as their cultural fit with the team.
The search resulted in a very strong shortlist that offered multiple options. An excellent appointment was made, and the impact has been positive.
The client commented on the strength of the shortlist and has been impressed with the successful candidate’s progress and impact on the business so far.
